What's it about?

Some of you have asked what the book will be about. I suppose it's appropriate to talk about some of the content specifics, even though that's not the intention of this blog. Hopefully, I can set up a website that will promote the book, and share lots of content details on that site. Meantime, I'll say that the book (working title, The Soul of Atlas) discusses the interesting similarities and glaring differences between Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism and Gospel Christianity. As I mentioned earlier, Ayn Rand's major work of fiction (Atlas Shrugged) is coming to the big screen in the Fall of 2009. I anticipate a renewed interest in Ayn Rand's work. Regardless, it has always begged for a Christian response. There are wonderful things to learn from Ayn Rand's thinking as well as important misunderstandings about Christianity in the Objectivist context. Ideally, I'd like the Christians to understand how Ayn Rand gets to her conclusions and Objectivists to appreciate the Christian's reasoning.

"Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism and Gospel Christianity" why do this? I mean what's your motivation behind comparing these to entities, If I can call them that.

Thanks for your comment/question. I have been helped substantially by Ayn Rand. Her thinking has helped me to think and has challenged my assumptions and conclusions. I think other Christians will be similarly helped. On the other hand, I think Objectivists often dismiss Christianity without consideration. This book will help holders of both worldviews.
